The club was the major attraction for many children off the Ringland Estate.
The club opened every evening and the children were entertained up until 8pm / 9pm.
Dennis Godsall was the man that opened up the club most evenings and he was then assisted by Charlie Tovey ,Gary Vaughan,Dennis Russel, Martin Shatford ,Mikey Johnson and Chris Bosley all took a part in helping out with the running of the club.
The club had a few teams and the First Team played the majority of their football in the Gwent League.
In February 2007, the club lost one of its most staunch supporters Mr Dennis Henry who was a major influence on the club . Then, in March 2008 Spencer Boys, where ex-Wales international Nathan Blake played his football, had its biggest battle and looked destined to disband after being told its clubhouse and changing rooms would be closed for the season.
The club used Ringland Community Centre as a base for its home games, but half way into this season officials were told by the council they would have to seek alternative accommodation as the community centre was to be refurbished.Without a home the dozens of adult and junior members would have to disband their teams - but thanks to some frantic phone calls and council help, the club is marching on.
More up to date news is that now Spencer Boys Youth and Development are pushing for changes to happen with a 3 g pitch being talked about and the future with the new development not far away, with the help of Laura Lacey CCL and hard supportive work by the committee/managers and coaches the club is soon going to be in a better position than it has been for many a year.

Spencer Boys Annual Presentation.
10 am see the youth teams and there coaches engaging in a sponsor walk to raise money for the 3 g pitch that we are so much needing over at Ringland, This event will be followed by Food , music. there will be some games, cross bar challenge, keepy uppys and penalty shootouts followed by Parents vs Children match. In the evening you will all be invited back to the club house where the Barbeque will be going and alcohol and light refreshments will be on sale to help the club. Chairman
Dave Phillips ( Derv) has been involved for many years with Spencer Boys Club and also Hartridge Rfc and remains at the helm. Dave has put a lot of time and effort and money into the club over the years and without Derv i think the club may not still be up and running.
Ryan Brickell
Secretary
Ryan has been with Spencer Boys for a few years after a spell down at Maesglas where he did a great job. Ryan plays a huge part in Spencer Boys as he sorts fixtures the meetings and the general running of the club.Ryan is fully involved with the club does a lot including coaching and helping all the teams with training needs.
Lisa Tovey
Treasurer
Lisa Tovey is the newly appointed treasurer of the club although Lisa has been running the back office with the under 12s since they were formed. Lisa will be the ideal candidate for this position as herself and Partner Jamie are fully committed to the football and have dedicated a lot of time into the club already
